How did you meet your best friend(s)?
We met in 4th grade when she moved to Bend from Southern Cali and we got introduced randomly. Our classrooms were next to eachother and we were never very close. Then, in 7th grade Advanced English.. we sat next to eachother and things went from there. We have been best friends for 9 years now :)

Are there any snacks, food or candy that are no longer made that you desperately miss?
I really miss the flavor of the original BBQ corn nuts... the ones before they made them all sweet. They used to be so delicious!!
So I noticed this on Kitty's blog and figured I'd check out my neighborhood to see who all had added me.
Well... I don't know half the people on here so if you added me and haven't said anything... comment and say hello! Tell me who you are :)
kthx
has the same layout as me. Why is the plane not showing? :( its making me SAD!
What's the most extreme weather you've been in? A memorable storm? Heat wave? Or something else?
Other than the current heat wave since I don't have A/C...
It would have to be my trip to St Louis, Missouri in 2004. It was Memorial Day Weekend, smack dab in the middle of tornado season and I was there on a Leadership trip. The day we were leaving STL we were waiting for the Metro to take us back to SLU to get our stuff and that's when the lightning began. It was shooting horizontally across the sky and the wind picked up really quickly. It tipped over a garbage can and started throwing bottles in our direction which of course broke when they hit the cement. The smallest girl on the trip almost blew off the ramp into the path of an oncoming train.
When we got our stuff and got back on the Metro to go to the airport, the connections were sparking and the tram was blowing all over the place. When we got to the Metro station at the airport we got off and had to run 20-30 feet to the doors only to get completely soaked from head to toe from the rain. My pillow I was carrying got soaked all the way through. Once we got inside, 3 hours early for our flight to Chicago that would take us from O'Hare back to PDX, we found out that our flight was delayed. Because of the weather it didn't just get delayed but got completely cancelled. Our flight that was supposed to be leaving around 4 PM ended up leaving the next morning at 6:20 AM. We had to stay at the airport overnight but because our flight didn't leave for about 12 hours we couldn't check in and actually have seats. We had to lay on the floor.
I had just recovered from a bad bout of strep throat (on the trip) and didn't sleep at all, therefore making me relapse right before finals. Some people slept on the benches at Burger King and some slept right in front of the ticket counter. I on the other hand could not sleep due to the incessant intercom voice saying "Do not leave your baggage unattended or it will be confiscated by airport security." Needless to say, I was extremely miserable. So at 4:30 AM the next morning we got ready, checked in and actually got to sit in seats at the gate. We waited for our plane which came late because of weather delays, flew into Chicago and then prepared to wait a little longer for our flight back to Oregon. Once again, the plane was late. An hour this time. Once we were taxi-ing on the runway we got delayed AGAIN for an hour (while sitting on the runway) because of impending tornadoes. I remember the sky to the west being almost pitch black. It was quite scary. After we made it off the ground and hit some turbulence we were free and clear.
Taken from Wikipedia:
The Memorial Day Weekend 2004 Tornado Outbreak lasted for two days from May 29–30, 2004. This tornado outbreak began in the Great Plains and continued throughout the Midwest. The results from this outbreak are still being tabulated, but as of December 2004, the Storm Prediction Center has 199 tornado reports from the two days, but they have records for 149 actual tornadoes.
The 149 tornadoes occurred in 32 hours of continuous activity, which would not break the record held by the 1974 Super Outbreak, which saw 148 tornadoes in 18 hours. There was also a greater number of large and violent tornadoes in the Super Outbreak event.
So far, damage totals from this outbreak are at $62.321 million. The Storm Prediction Center will not have all results tabulated from this outbreak until the spring of 2005. Remarkably, only five people were killed.
